Two men from Ireland died in two separate drowning tragedies on the Costa Blanca last weekend.
The first was at lunchtime on Saturday when the body of a 65 year old Irish man resident in San Fulgencio was spotted floating in the sea off La Marina Beach in Elche. Ambulance teams called out to the scene were unable to revive him and could only certify his death.
There were other incidents elsewhere on the Costa Blanca on Saturday, when at least four other swimmers got into difficulties in the choppy seas.
The second victim, a 36 year old man also from Ireland, died on a beach in Guardamar del Segura on Sunday, a day when the coast was also affected by rough seas. EFE reports that he was on the Costa Blanca on holiday with his wife.
