Government rejects the idea of smoking rooms for restuarants and bars

Government rejects the idea of smoking rooms for restuarants and bars: "The Spanish Government has rejected the suggestion from businessmen in the hostelry sector for separate rooms or cubicles for smokers when the new anti-smoking legislation comes into effect next year.

The hotel and restaurant industry had asked for grants to be made available for the construction of such smokers’ areas where no food or drink would be served, but the government is reported to consider such an idea too complicated to enforce, and has also rejected the Partido Popular proposition that the hostelry sector be compensated when the smoking ban in all closed public spaces comes into effect."
